About the institute
Tumaini Institute of Management Studies is a registered private institution under the ministry of Education under the umbrella of Technical Education and Vocational Authority (TVETA) in Kenya. The Institute was founded in the year 2012 and started its operation in the year 2018. The college is owned by Credit and Debt Management Services Ltd and is currently located at Coffee Plaza 6th floor in Nairobi.

COURSE DURATION: 12 MONTHS
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
An individual entering this course should have any of the following minimum requirements:
a. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain)
OR
b. Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
CERTIFICATION
An individual will be awarded a Certificate of Competency on demonstration of competence in a unit of competency. To be awarded Certificate in credit officer Certificate Level 5, an individual must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency.
These certificates will be awarded by KNEC in conjunction with the training provider.
- CREDIT MANAGEMENT LEVEL 6 DIPLOMA
COURSE DURATION: 2 YEARS
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
An individual entering this course should have any of the following minimum requirements:
- Credit management Certificate Level 5
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) C minus
- Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
CERTIFICATION
A candidate will be issued with a Record of Achievement for each Unit of Competency. To attain the qualification National Diploma Level 6 credit management, the candidate must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency as given in qualification pack. These certificates will be issued by KNEC.

The credit management level 6 qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to develop credit policy, perform marketing and sales function, invoice products and service orders, monitor business performance, manage debt collection and recovery, evaluate credit portfolio performance, manage credit risk and compliance, implement management information systems in credit , manage customer relationship and apply law governing credit practice.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
An individual entering this course should have any of the following minimum requirements:
- Credit management Certificate Level 5
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) C minus Or
- Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
Assessment
The course will be assessed at two levels: internally and externally. Internal assessment is continuous and is conducted by the trainer who is monitored by an accredited internal verifier while external assessment is the responsibility of TVET CDACC.
Certification
A candidate will be issued with a Record of Achievement for each Unit of Competency. To attain the qualification National Diploma Level 6 credit management, the candidate must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency as given in qualification pack. These certificates will be issued by TVET CDACC in conjunction with training provider.
Credit management certificate level 5 qualifications consists of competencies that an individual must achieve to administer requests for credit, administer debtors ledger, monitor business performance manage, debt collection and recovery, evaluate credit portfolio performance, manage credit risk and compliance, operate management information systems in credit and manage customer relationship
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
An individual entering this course should have any of the following minimum requirements:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain) Or
- Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
Field attachment
An individual enrolled in this course will undergo a field attachment for a period of 8 weeks in a credit institution.
Assessment
- Internal assessment: conducted continuously by the trainer (internal assessor) who is monitored by an accredited internal verifier.
- External assessment: conducted by an accredited external assessor who is monitored by an accredited external verifier.
The assessors and verifiers are accredited by TVET CDACC which also coordinates external assessment.
Certification
An individual will be awarded a Certificate of Competency on demonstration of competence in a unit of competency. To be awarded Certificate in credit officer Certificate Level 5, an individual must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency.
These certificates will be awarded by TVET CDACC in conjunction with the training provider.
DURATION OF STUDY
The course will take duration of 12 months.
Computer Science Level 6 qualification consists of competencies that a person must
achieve to understand computer organization and architecture, understand operating
systems, understand mathematics for computer science, understand fundamentals
programming, demonstrate database management skills, develop an information
system, understand networking and distributed systems, understand artificial
intelligence, understand algorithms and data structures, demonstrate web design skills
and understand graphic design.
This course consists of basic, common and core units of competency.
